ASIAN MASCULINITY SERIES, VOL. 001: Ryan Sung

Ryan: "I'm a second and a half generation Korean-American who grew up in the beach town of Huntington Beach, CA. People around me called me "whitewashed". That being said, while the Korean language was lost in the generational divide between me and my parents, the values and morals of my Korean heritage were not. On the topic of masculinity, I find myself bewildered and confused. I don't understand why society has come to accept a very specific definition of masculinity and blindly project it on everyone. I believe that there is no universal definition of masculinity and that there should not be pressure to fit into a singular, narrow definition."
